SMOW, the suspect has not been named on the broadcasters' websites.

I honestly didn’t know. Let’s hope they haven’t named the wrong person then

I was thinking the same Ken...
TCL It is good to know that. The Waily Fail has loads of articles about the suspect which immediately made me think back to Mr Jefferies and the Jo Yeates case and how an innocent man had his life destroyed by the press.
Question Author
Remind me of that case barmaid? X
Jo Yeates disappeared in Bristol just before Christmas about 10 years ago. Initially her landlord was arrested and the press dug up a whole load of stuff and dissected his life. He was completely innocent but suffered hugely as a result of the way the press behaved. I'll find a link in a mo.
Didn't he get compensation?
Question Author
Did they ever find the right person??
Several national newspapers paid him damages for libel.
Yes, they did.

But I am always concerned when someone is arrested for a serious crime and their name released. Arrest and charge are quite different things.
Ah yes, it wasn't compensation from the police it was 'substantial' damages from 8 publications.
Question Author
God that’s terrible!!
Looks like they have found 'remains'. Very, very sad.
Cressida Dick has announced that the Met will increase their presence in the area.Seems a bit strange when they have a policeman in custody for the offence.
They always do it to "reassure the public" - I call it shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. Maybe they should have been patrolling at the time of the abduction?

It's a damn shame that a lovely young woman has likely been murdered & shocking IF a copper did it. The perpetrator should get a whole live sentence & live it in misery.
it just makes you wonder if they knew each other or whether it was opportune
whatever "it" is of course
// They always do it to "reassure the public" - I call it shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. //

we are meant to look at them and think - oh yes the police are protecting us!
rather than - what are they doing here it is all a bit late innit?

and easy overtime - shush!
He's been found in his cell with head injuries and taken to hospital.
