When Harry says he didn’t realise he was trapped.... that only realised he was trapped once Meghan etc came along ...
Why do you think he didn’t know he was trapped? He’d seen a lot of “normal” life while doing military service after all?

I’m just curious as to your opinion

Prince Harry said Sunday that he was “trapped” within the complex system of British royalty until wife Meghan Markle helped save him — and he feels “compassion” for Prince William and Prince Charles because they are still stuck in its mire.

Leaving the Army was the worst decision he ever made, until her married her, the Army gave him the normality he had been desperate for. Even if he couldn't take another front line role because of security fears there are plenty of other roles he could have filled.

no, I get that....he hadn't had normal military life...he hadn't had any normal life as you or I might describe it. Other young men in the army don't have their service curtailed because there very existence would put their colleagues at risk. They aren't constantly guarded. As children they don't play games with their security detail. I could give loads more examples but you get the point.

I'm sure Harry was convinced he was 'Trapped' by Meghan. He has had a varied career and was given much more freedom than William was.
William is not trapped -he works (or worked) outside the Military piloting an Air Ambulance.
Charles is not trapped, he has the thriving business, Duchy of Cornwall, to keep him occupied.
Meghan probably felt trapped in that she thought being Royal would be floating around a palace barking orders, and doing whatever she wished, followed by her 'Security'. When she realised it was not actually like that, then she had to formulate a Plan. She knew she could have status in La La Land far higher than even the most A stars of A listers, because she is a Princess. So then began the grooming of the multi-millionaire Prince, now husband who could provide all that.
Harry needs a wakeup call with a couple of weeks in a high rise flat with two kids in total lockdown. Then he might realise what 'trapped' means for some, and how utterly foolish Megan is making him look.

I don't care how wealthy or privileged the Royal family are, I wouldn't want their life. Can't see much privilege in living in a goldfish bowl

Every one is different. There are many members of the Royal Family we hardly ever see, and they just get on with their Privileged lives without whingeing. I wonder if the Duchess of Cambridge feels 'trapped'? Or Prince Edward, or the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent?

I sort of get it. If you're born into the royal family your life path is chosen for you. You're automatically 'famous'. The press follow your every move. And you didn't get a choice in that. With all that of course comes great privilege and wealth and the only issue I have with this pair is that they appear [bearing in mind we can never know the truth] to want the good bits without the obligations that come with them.

Having said all that, isn't it the case that for most of us that our life path is in many ways chosen for us? It's extremely difficult, for instance, to escape the poverty trap many are born into.

I don't recall the Duke and Duchess of Windsor being in the papers much once the abdication had taken place. Admittedly I wasn't born until long after that but they seem to have been largely ignored by the British press.
