very sensible. Why on Earth wouldn't an educational institution like Kew tell people about how plants have been used over the centuries? Crazy of them not to have done it before.

I've not heard of anything so ridiculous as the notion that artefacts in this country must be "decolonised." The UK no longer has any colonies; it gave up its last outpost in 1997 and had no others of any great significance for much longer than that. Because we have plants in this country that originated from those countries is no reason to have the collections they sit in "decolonised" because those collections are not colonised to begin with.

I expect this sort of abject drivel from 16 year olds but not from people who are running a premier attraction and scientific centre such as Kew Gardens.

I expect they already do where appropriate. But why say they are being "decolonised". It's a ridiculous term which has no sensible meaning in this context. Countries and territories can be decolonised; collections of objects cannot.

A (s)Kew gardens spokesperson is bound to announce shortly that only Amazon Indian tribes will in future be employed to water the tropical zone and Tauregs only can apply for work with the desert zone plants.

Because the "public bodies are chock full of em in the first place. They gravitate towards non job positions with no responsibility, but big budgets and and a means of playing politics.

However, they (Kew) may as well as flatten two-thirds of the space if they want to take this Woke angle - Given that their founder, Lord Capell of Tewksbury, was one of those flattening Ireland politically and as 1st Lord of the Admiralty would have seen the Navy securing the colonies, then destroy the place.

I wouldn't really call the 14 British Overseas Territories "colonies", DT. But even if they are, the term "decolonise" is still ridiculous when applied to a collection of plants. The people running these organisations are simply making themselves appear foolish.
