As the fall-out from 'that interview' continues to rumble, the royal couple lose much of their popularity.
If you are going to plan and execute a PR stunt like being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, it helps if you have a good view of the whole picture, and at least an idea of what you want to gain from the exercise, and if you think that gain will materialise.
My view is that Harry was naive enough to imagine that presenting 'their truth' would gain sympathy for what he perceives as the mistreatment of himself and his wife.
Meghan on the other hand was more likely to see a PR opportunity in the US, which has succeeded, and is indifferent to the views in the UK, because she has no intention of returning here.
What Harry fails to grasp is that this is a game he will never win.
Because of his status and wealth, any wingeing and moaning, especially about having 'no money' is only ever going to be met with rampant hostility.
He is born into privelidge and wealth, which is not his choice or fault, but that does not mean that moaning about it in public will ever gain support or sympathy, it simply will not, ever.
Harry stating that his father and brother are 'trapped' is entirely his perception, and probably an erroneous one at that - both princes seem to accept their situation and destiny perfectly happily, and each of their wives knew exactly what she was marrying into - unlike Meghan who claims to have been ignorant of the protocols and expectations required of her as a royal wife.
Meghan will see the results as a success - a higher supportive profile in the US than ever, and Harry will remain baffled as to why is is so 'misunderstood' by the British press and people.
He needs to grow up and accept that being an adult means accepting things you cannot alter, and stop moaning about them and sounding ungrateful, immature, and chippy.
Learn from your family Harry, you won't win, say nothing, stop caring what strangers think of you, get on with your life and stay away from cameras and microphones, you'll be much happier if you do.

I don't think they necessarily listen to advice. If they did, the best advice is that talking to the media will never ever do them any favours. It didn't with Charles or Diana or Andrew. The only winner will always be the press. This is probably why the queen sticks to "never explain, never complain ".

I watched the queen on television news tonight who in the midst of all her family problems and her husband’s hospitalisation put a brave face on to speak smilingly to a selection of people about space exploration. The royals who have remained loyal to this country are doing and have done a magnificent job for morale throughout these troubled times so all I can say is Harry and Meghan, if you’re serious about your commitment to service, watch and learn. I doubt you will though. This is, as expected, coming back to bite them - and understandably.

Let’s cut to the chase here.
In 2018 Prince Harry married a manipulative 36 year old divorced minor TV actress who had eyes on the Big Prize. She had been briefly married to a TV producer and when it became clear that he would not be able to help her advance her career too much he was seemingly kicked into touch.
After the wedding I believe she envisaged spending much of their time in the USA, flitting back to the UK for a bit of pomp and pageantry now and then. Harry imagined this would be satisfactory to the Royal Family. He would still pick up his stipend, still be able to put on a military uniform from time to time, cut a few ribbons to open various charitable premises, then back to California (or wherever) for some much needed R&R. Alas The Queen did not quite see it that way.
Their arguments are ridiculous. Harry must have known this would be a big “ask” to get the RF to agree to this part time arrangement. The Duchess would have been well aware of the commitments that would be required of them to remain top tier Royals. When she says she didn’t I don’t believe her. Harry is acting like a spoilt child who has been told he can have no more sweets. Lots of children lose their parents at a young age. By the time they reach their 30s they have recovered from – or at least learned to live with - the trauma, and most of them do not have the advantages that Harry has been blessed with. Many people (a great many, in fact) are born into lifestyles that they are not particularly fond of. Most of them do not have the opportunity to change course as Harry has.
I see nothing wrong with Harry deciding Royal life was not for him and his wife and that a change was necessary. Even a Prince should have that privilege. What is very wrong is for the two of them to indulge in an orgy of victimhood that seems to have engulfed them. Even now it does not end. Ms Markle has complained to Ofcom about Piers Morgan’s remarks he made about her on breakfast telly. He simply said he didn’t believe her. Well neither do I.

The thing is that most people are indifferent to the monarchy... and the segment of the population who actually feel strongly about it are unconditionally for or against... the people uncondonitionally against are never going to like them anyway and the people unconditionally for will react badly against anything whatsoever which portrays the royal family in a negative light, and may even share some of the reactionary attitudes the royals are alleged to have. So it's not really surprising.
I don't see why Harry and Meghan should care about how popular they are here.

Neither do I. They decided to leave their Royal personas behind when it was made clear they would not be permitted to be "half Royal." I think their problem is that they believe that they should be allowed such a status. They've got the hump because they can't have what they want. Instead of just sucking up a decision that was not theirs to make they've chucked their toys from the pram and are now seeking to suggest that their departure was forced on them. It wasn't. They resigned.
