Forgive my ignorance but after a week I thought there would be a body. It appears remains were found and she had to be identified by her teeth. Can anyone explain ?

// If she was young & pretty thousands march for her, but if she was one of the other 278 elderly victims, //

or the other 6 people who died in London on that week end
( no ref - just reports of parents saying what about our kids? )
Got around to watching last's night's footage. What on earth were the police thinking? Utterly moronic.
No, the morons are the demonstrators; they were asked not to attend and light a candle at home to show solidarity but chose to break covid rules instead. I have no sympathy for them.
I always thought that the discovery of a dead body was referred to as 'remains', but I could have got that wrong.
someone else here ha said it is always remains and never body
overall I thought it was odd that the police said with a straight face

we didnt do diddly squat to protect the dead girl
but you - we have to protect you from Covid and yourselves....

cressie isnt an ABer is she?
11.44 is this a 1st? trying not to be insensitive. Our very own GP has posted a link!!!
I agree totally with bhg41, if that had been a gathering for a rave or something similar, people would have been up in arms. Cressida Dick was in the unenviable position of "dammed if you do, and dammed if you don't" I actually felt sorry for the police having to attend.
Obviously a terrible event has occurred but there are other ways of showing support. As a female I can sympathise with the feelings. POI: If we are in lockdown why was Sarah visiting her friend , I haven't been able to visit my friends for weeks. Sorry if this sounds churlish.
Reports normally say 'body' unless its a cold case from years ago, or only parts of the body are found.

//Cressida Dick was in the unenviable position of "dammed if you do, and dammed if you don't" //

Cressida Dick was the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in London, who last year was "proud" to announce that she had no less than 300 police officers working exclusively on hate-crimes.

Dare I suggest it might have been better of some of them were patrolling the streets & public thoroughfares at night instead.
// it might have been better of some of them were patrolling the streets & public thoroughfares at night instead. //

And if they find one of their own indecently exposing himself at women, they let go and do nothing :-(
Trouble was one if them WAS patrolling the streets at night :(
Bednobs //Trouble was one if them WAS patrolling the streets at night :(//
This is sadly quite true, but doesn't minimize my suggestion. Police officers convicted of murder (in the UK) are so extremely rare as to be negligible, I can find only 3, John Christie in the 1940s & 2 others in Ulster in the 70s
bednobs - // rouble was one if them WAS patrolling the streets at night :( //

We have been advised that the officer charged with the murder was not on duty at the time of the offence, therefore he was not 'patrolling' in the official sense.
Andy-hughes,
The Police officer who twice exposed himself to female staff at McDonalds works for the Diplomatic and Parliament protection service.
So we can work out that he wasn’t on duty when he committed his acts of indecent exposure. No one has claimed he was.
When bednobs said he was ‘patrolling’ it was obviously an ironic remark not a claim he was working.
Whether he was on duty or not is completely irrelevant.
