Woman from Runnymead Trust said on TV this afternoon that black Britons were in many cases unable to visit vaccine centres because of their poverty and the remoteness of centres. She also said that black health workers had been the first hit with the virus due to racism. One despairs.

//hit with the virus due to racism//
Wow! a racist vaccine, who'd believe it.
what they are so poor they cannot get on a bus, then how do thye manage to feed themselves and pay utility bills, or are they all on benefits...
Which programme/channel and the name of the lady?
Question Author
BBC news channel.
I think anyone invited for the jab could access NHS/volunteer transport if necessary. Has that not been available?
Maybe there are no direct buses? I can drive to my GP surgery in 15 minutes but I would need to get 2 buses and it would take me an hour.

Danny: There they say more should have been done to prioritize 'dense, urban areas' mostly inhabited by BAMEs while, on TV, their spokeswoman said that vaccine centres were 'too remote' for BAMEs. Grief.

Maggie: What's so hard about two buses that may save your life?

And buses are free for the Over 65s, reduced for the disabled.
well in the cities where all the low paid jobs are
I wd expect them to get to a centre

the OAPs crutches n awl, besieged the vaccination centres from the get go ( 9 am Tue, I pitched ( nay crawled) up at 07 30 )
the Bammies in the NHS are done at work innit?
The Runnymede Trust is not as independent as it claims to be.
All the vaccination hubs I know of are in Town centres. Some people who live up the Dales -some without private transport, have to travel 20 odd miles to the nearest one.
I am fed up to my back teeth with this BLM' everything negative that happens to me is cos I'm of colour' carp. No, its not racist -cos guess what?-shyt happens to white people too, white people dont get good education, white people don't get the first job they apply for (then whinge ). I'm not racist, certainly not white supremacist, just sick of the Black card been used again and again as an excuse for just about everything. As for Black poverty being worse than White .......I don't honestly know how they work that one out.
One option in some areas with low take ups in Jewish, BAME and deprived areas has been to have drop in centres where no booking is needed for a vaccinne. Am not sure its been successful but lets hope it is. Am allways puzzled by the ''theres no guarantee it wont affect fertility' argument as how does that effect the over 50s anyway?
The main reasons not direct racism or lack of access its lack of trust in science and goverment due to windrush and a beleif there god will look after them

'Shyt happens to white people too' perfect for T-shirts I'd say AuntPolly...And wholeheartedly agree.
What's wrong with buses ? As a regularly user let me enlighten you - during social distancing conditions, buses only allow a reduced number aboard - so you could be left standing at the bus stop for the next bus with no guarantee it will be any better. It is for this reason I was unable to attend a Vaccination Centre (2 bus rides away, so the availability problem doubled) but had to wait until local surgery (fortunately within walking distance) could accommodate me.

Bobbin: Blame Windrush. Utterly moronic.
//that black Britons were in many cases unable to visit vaccine centres because of their poverty and the remoteness of centres//
If the Runnymede Trust person actually said that she is being rediculous or mis-using words. Some black Britons may be in poverty but its only a smallish proportion of them not many of them. The take up is low because they wont take it, including afir share of BAME care workers who can get to work but arent taking it up because there unsure/antivaxx not because they cant travel to a pharmacy/centre
With Apg on this. In fact for the first time in my life I seem to be turning into a rascist .
