16.29 ,Brexit, Immigration, Racialism. All linked.

And are you saying Northern and Midlands Labour supporters who voted Brexit are racist?
Brexit would have gotten nowhere without the reactionary dislike of immigrants to the Uk... which probably is not ‘racism’ by the strictest definition of the word but it is a form of irrational bigotry and in many cases hatred.

DrM, yes that is what he is saying. all of us Brexiteers racist to the core,
I think I’m more likely to become King of England than to get that!
Oh good grief! Another one. There you are Gulliver - you have a mate - another who doesn’t understand why Brexit prevailed - or doesn’t want to. :o)
I agree that the UK isn't institutionally racist but there are still racists out there working in these institutions.
untitled - where do you come up with claptrap, i have known in the past many black people who were as racist against white/asian as they come - it ain't a one way situation.

My feeling is that large parts of the country felt disenchanted with our political elite, Left and Right - that they had been neglected for decades, poor / low paid jobs, high unemployment, poor educational opportunities, poor housing - and they gave them a kicking they weren't expecting
who is they DrM
I know emmie.
Mmmm, wonder why we decided enough was enough , could it have been when Noo Labour under the leadership of Teflon Tony Bliar decided to open our borders so his dear wife Cherie could defend the illegals pouring in?
I wonder how many of the problems that are blamed on race are more to do with the tendency for communities to be close knit and perhaps showing a tendency to be slower to accept changes in the attitudes and aspirations of their young members. The culture of its not what people like us do, held back young working class people in years gone by, and there are definite similarities in the progress of minority group members at the moment. The idea that you need to see it to be it is a valid one.. There are lots of black and other minority members visible now but it will take at least a full generation for that success to become commonplace.

They (Labour voters) felt unrepresented and gave them (the political elite) a kicking - sorry for not being clearer

Brexit - and the “sovereignty” issue - would have been a fringe obsession without immigration. It came before the economy, before controlling our laws (the supposed rationale)...
.. Regardless of other motives it was feelings about immigrants which won Brexiters the day.
^ So what if it was - how many more can our little island hold ?? We have enough now, but they still keep coming ....
BSA survey - fear over immigration was key

Cambridge University study finds that immigration was the issue which won Leave the vote

I am not denying there were other motives... but Brexit would have gotten nowhere without this.
Lump of labour fallacy shirly
There have been many black professional race-baiters (they get paid to slate white people and institutions, not white institutions just institutions) on my radio today...upset that they have been told they don't live in a rabidly racist country.
Bless em.
