Covid Passports
Keir Starmer came close to declaring a policy position this morning, saying that while he won’t come out against Covid passports at this stage, their potential rollout would be against the “British instinct”.

I agree we can't help what other countries decide... so a covid vaccine could realistically be a requirement to go abroad.
For people working and socialising in the country they live- it's choice. Anyone willing and able to be vaccinated, will, others won't or can't. But you have to allow real life back as much as possible.

I’m only talking about the proposal to require proof of vaccination to go about your business in this country, Khandro.

Yes I’ve got one. But I don’t have to produce it to get into my local pub. In fact the only time I’ve ever had to produce it is to have further vaccination details added to it. I'll gladly produce it again to have my Covid jabs entered.

No I can’t. As I said, I believe it is a ridiculous idea which is largely unworkable and needs to be promptly put down. It’s very true that pubs won’t want to get involved in such a scheme. But if it is introduced they will have no choice. Local Authorities will be rubbing their hands with glee. They will have armies of jobsworths on standby, eager to roam round the area checking that pubs and restaurants are complying, with the threat of enforced closure if they are not. Meanwhile there is an abandoned car a short distance from my house which has been there for more than five months. The LA cannot move it “due to Covid.”

There is no need for the entire population to be vaccinated before restrictions can be eased. All of the most vulnerable have now been offered their first jab, many of them have had two. The idea of the lockdown (originally) was to protect the NHS from being overwhelmed. Patient numbers in hospital are down to less than 10% of the peak a couple of months ago; daily admissions are down to around 6% of the peak. The “emergency” has passed and restrictions are now being enforced “just in case.” Well many businesses don’t have the luxury of remaining closed “just in case.”

it's unworkable in the real world, example take an inner city pub
and think thousand may walk by daily, err i forgot my id..err let's chance it, pint plz/ publican id plz, country pub you could get away with it..maybe, but since we have all been locked up, there will be a lot of people who fancy a pint a meal etc, again oh i forgot my id, less u live in a hamlet... it will not work.

Were my mother still alive & in the care home where she ended her days, I would expect nothing less of the staff - even if all the residents had been vaccinated- to not allow anyone through the doors without clear documentation that the person had had the full 2 shots.

This is not proven, but remotely possible, so as my doc. said to me; 'though you have had 2 jabs, we still don't know enough about it, so better keep masking-up', which I shall do in public.
