awful scottish name like mayce- when
the Buller of Killairn - is a person and not a valuable farm animal
Ah no! My cousin had a massive crush on him back in the day.

RIP Les
How sad, so young.
was never a fan, all that tartan, wide trousers and scarves wasn't it?
RIP Les
I have 3 sisters and remember their endless debating as to who was the best one! TBF I think Les was the favourite generally. Wish upon a star mate!
They were around when I was in my teens. My Teddy Bear, Mr Wong, still has his tartan scarf on.

Them were the days !!
Seems to have done okay lifespan-wise considering his lifestyle, none of which mattered then or now.
I remember from my teenage years watching them on TOTP .

In one show I recall each of them sitting on a seperate white Rolls Royce .

Cool I thought at the time

Does anyone on here remember that ?
65 wow! I must be getting old. They were after my time!
Sold down the river by a bent manager , lost out on Royalties
not my style of music but it made others happy, more of a rocker
sabbath zep etc.

1 sister was obsessed with the BCR, and the other with the Osmonds.
I'm sorry he died so young, but it is only thanks to this site that I now know that he was one of the Bay City Rollers and t.b.h. I scarcely took them on board when they were at the height of their popularity. Some nice, sing-along songs. It is very young to die, though. R.I. P.

Sadly, you are quite correct - if each of the band had received the royalties due to them, they would probably have had in the region of seven to eight million pounds each, then, imagine what that would be worth now!

What many people forget is that a lot of seventies pop bands were poplar here, and nowhere else. Slade toured relentlessy in the US and never managed to crack it, same goes for most of the others who ventured anywhere abroad.

The Rollers were the exception, they were absolutely massive in every single territory where pop records were sold, especiallly the US and Japan, the two mega-scenes where they sold shedloads of singles and albums.

It's doubtful if their labirynthine finances will ever be totally untangled, but they remain seriously poorly financially rewarded for their success, and it's sad that Les has passed away, leaving millions of fans with very fond memories.

RIP Les.
Very young to die

Reminds me of teen clothes of the era - wrangler skinners, Levi stay-prest, braided shirts, tank tops, college jumpers, doc martens, baseball boots among others
Just think of all the young girls who would have loved to have married him and would now be widows! Have to say they were not my favourites but certainly loved to sing along when their records are on the wireless.
He wrote an autobiography. I must get that from the library. Personally, I was in love with Eric. I was a fan of the Rollers though
