Pratti Patel is quick to twist the knife into the BBC, but she is forgetting who was running things in 1995.
We had a Conservative Government and part of their duties was to oversee the running of the BBC.
Perhaps Patel should keep her gob shut before heaping more embarrassment on her party.

Nationalising the Railways is a terrible idea. Governments should not be running the railways, that should be left to professionals.
We have had a nationalised rail network before, and it was terrible - why do you think it will work this time ?

they want to simplify the railway system apparently. The ticketing is a nightmare as it stands and so will be one thing they will sort out.
i must admit that i was surprised to learn they are re nationalising the railways considering what a bodge it used to be.

France has a nationalised railway and it's very good. Nothing wrong with a nationalised industry per se, it's how it's run that has been the problem.

Our railways were run badly when it was state owned but there is no reason why they cannot be run properly and with a profit as they are in much of Europe. We just need the right people running it.
