and we abolished the death penalty way back when.

just about all of these things are the constant subject of moaning by tories... plenty of tories favour the death penalty and recently on answerbank tories were arguing for protests to be made illegal

A Belarusian joke for y'all....

A guy is walking down the street in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, very close to the protests when suddenly a police car full of cops pulls up. The cops jump out of the car and start beating up the guy - Minneapolis-style.

The poor guy then yells: "No, please, stop! I voted for Lukashenko!"

One of the cops then responds: "Shut up, liar! No one voted for Lukashenko!"

not illegal, but confess that one or two protests every week here in the capital can be wearisome. They do disrupt peoples lives, and often are nowt to do with the UK. Like the recent Palestinian one, what's that got to do with Britain.

yes there are times i wished we had the death penalty, but my head says no, whereas my heart when it reads stories of the recent paedophile who has molested hundreds or possibly thousands of boys says yes. This individual got life, but must serve a minimum of 18 years. not nearly enough he should have got life, with no parole.

He must serve 18 years before he can be CONSIDERED for parole. There is no guarantee that he will get it.

Russia still has the death penalty on statute as a matter of fact. However it was suspended to enable the country to join the Council of Europe.
