Don't live in London and have only just discovered that the London mayoral candidate, for the CONSERVATIVES fgs, was a burglar. And there's no evidence that he paid for his crimes. They must have gone lefty, or mad, or something. Looking for a right thinking party now.

Just a little statistic to throw into the pot here: over a third of all men in Britain (35%) acquire a criminal record before their 30th birthday.

As I read his post, Englishmann seems prepared to write off a very large proportion of the UK population as being forever unfit for anything at all, simply because of something that they might have done in their early life.

a mistake by him shouldn't haunt him for the rest of his life. He has been a youth worker for over twenty years, and has served on the government, i think he's certainly turned his life around wouldn't you say.

That story is dated 2018 and retells a story a decade before that.
So it was all in the open before people voted (or didn’t) vote for him.
It was a strange choice for the Conservatives. With a decent candidate, they could have won the seat.

i think after watching him numerous times, where he had a strong case, he could well have taken over the job, perhaps next time....

Can't see a problem with it myself, not hidden and the man has clearly made something good of himself since.

Many of us did have a 'colourful' youth. I certainly did - and yes I am one of the 30% with a criminal record before 30.
