Keith Ellison's words seem the closest to anything I could say.
//Ellison: 'Not justice, but accountability'
"My hope for our country is that this moment gives us pause," says Minnesota's Attorney General Keith Ellison after Chauvin's sentencing.
This is one of the longest sentences "a former police officer has ever received" for deadly force, he says in a press conference.
"Today's sentencing is not justice, but it is another moment of real accountability on the road to justice."//

The nature of Floyd’s death was horrific, but I’m uneasy with the conviction, simply because I struggle to believe Chauvin meant to kill him.
I’m especially uneasy with the default position of many that it was racially motivated; literally the only person who knows whether there was racist intent is Chauvin, and he’s hardly likely to admit it.

The judge didn;t stuggle - if he had believed that the murder was deliberate, he would have given Chavin the maximum forty years.

I don't think the default position is that it was racially notivated.
I believe the position is that Chavin's use of excess force was racially motivated, but that he did not intend Floyd to die.

I agree with you. //
As I pointed out, I believe that if the judge had believed that the murder was intentinal, he would have awarded the maximum sentence of forty years.
The fact that he handed down just over half that demonstrates, in my view, that he did not believe that death was the intended outcome of the action.
