he doesn't "know", he's just joking/exaggerating/guessing at why Boris would have performed a complete U-turn in 24 hours.

The fact that Boris is now in the middle of a reverse ferret, claiming he was really going to sack Hancock all along, despite saying the case was closed a couple of days earlier, invites sardonic speculation, and Cummings has offered some. We are all free to do likewise.

I agree there’s no comparison between the two. They don’t even have the same roles. Johnson didn’t really care for Cummings but brought him in because felt he owed him for Brexit. And possibly because he was afraid not to. A serious error of judgment.

As usual, Johnson dithered longer than he should have, and then only made the right decision when it was inevitable.
Just like retrospectively they are saying they got the timing of the first lockdown about right, the sourcing of PPE about right, track and trace about right and the app about right - we all know that everything was not done at the right pace, and it was all much too late.

The fact Johnson is claiming he acted fast and sacked Hancock, when we all know he dithered and Hancock resigned, is just another example of Boris’ inability to tell the truth.
