^^^^ of course one of the most famous lines in Movie history, but there is alsoo another pretty good line that gets obscured by it
Bond: "if I fail to report 008 replaces me!"
Goldfinger: "I trust he will be more successful!"
Stocks need reinstating for these savages.
It was a circular saw in the book.

For reasons I don't quite understand, that has always seemed more terrifying ...
Corbyloon......I do indeed.
That was based on recommendations of laser technology 40 years ago.
My posts were based on the heading of this thread about a specific incident where a laser was shone on a particular person probably more than 50 metres away, with no evidence whatsoever that the beam was in contact with the eye.

My posts, opinion and comments remain unammended.
Gibbets, surely YMB?
Apparently one of the Danish players had complained to the referee about the laser being used before the goalkeeper incident.
Looks well for England doesn't it?---Booing during the Danish National Anthem, fireworks being let off and the laser being used on the Danish goalie.
I'm just thankful that the laser beam didn't hit the obvious target -- the goalie's eyes.
it's not too late to put some pikes back on London Bridge.
From the ROSPA link,

"Laser pens and similar devices have the potential to damage the retina and cause permanent loss of vision"

SQAD, simple question, had the laser beam gone into the goalie's eye(s), was there the potential to damage the retina and cause permanent loss of vision?

In my opinion......NO.
Everything I see and hear about football today re-affirms my commitment to never get involved in it either as a player or spectator.
Possibly a false flag incident to discredit the English Supporters. That is the problem with all such incidents which makes it difficult to punish the club/supporters responsible.
I hope they get the fool who did this, a rotten thing to do.
In other news ...

I never heard that on any sports reports ...

"Possibly a false flag incident to discredit the English Supporters." - No it did happen
After reading roadman's link at 13:04 I now get no pleasure from the result at all & I am taking down the flag from my house-front

Oh i understand what you mean canary. I mean quite possibly you know..
The clip I saw, the laser did hit the goalkeepers eyes very briefly. He flinched, but did not react anymore than from a camera flashlight reaction. There are some dangerous people amongst us. This creature will be known as such by his fellow thugs.
I have to disagree with sqad strongly and say that it is not proven that it is always safe
and invite in the interests of science - to do a viddie and show it here of his own right eye being irradiated for a short time - lets say 30s

no - - I thought not

from the internet
laser pointers, pens or key rings if used appropriately are not an eye hazard, and even if used inappropriately will not cause permanent eye damage.

not exactly a ringing endorsement for safety

Regardless of the potential for eye damage just trying to distract the goalkeeper is bad enough
o god that is like Novichok is completely safe so long as the smear on the door handle is small enough

er for Abers - novichok was the deadly contact poison that zeroed the wino in Salsbury and made the Russian spy Very Icky Boo !
