Mr Bassett's "Irexit Freedom Party" has had rather less impact at the polls than Lord Buckethead usually does in the UK - I certainly know who has the more realistic policies ...

And he is not the unbiased commentator portrayed by the Daily Express. His CV includes

So anything anti-EU he says is not surprising, he has a long history of opposing Ireland’s membership.

We have done well out of the EU because the Irish, when negotiating, are both charming and confusing at the same time resulting in a win for us.....as Dave has found out since meeting me..... ;-)

I know, Ummmm. Not so familiar with Tip but the benefit down in this corner has been fantastic. Dublin, at that time, made sure the rural areas like ours gained so much from membership.

We have wonderful roads around here now. It's great to drive into big town without having to remove my dentures and tighten up the bra straps... ;-)

No, seriously, the fish situation will not impact on Ireland - it's peanuts as to GDP (ok it's emotional), as it is here. The question is whether Ireland becomes one economically at least as in the reverse of the PRC/HK principle of 'one country, two systems' or goes further. I say look at these stats - the unification isn't there yet but maybe it's not far off and within my lifetime....By the end of 2025 (joke).

I used to assist a mate of mine who surveyed sewers and pumping stations etc, when the EUSSR were building your infrastructure. I've been to more or less every knook and cranny you have from Templebar, to Balina, from wick to Belmullet, from Galway to Cavan. I've been up "mountains" down caves, in the middle of nowhere and holes in the middle of everywhere. I've been race meetings at Navan, Thurles, Naas, Roscommon etc. I've probably spent more time and been to more places than you. .....and yes we earned a lot of dosh.
