Javid Contracts Foot In Mouth
130,000 have died, 1 million active cases, thousands in hospital.
Javid is fortunate to get a mild dose so he is telling people not to cower over covid.
Even if he doesn’t give a toss about people who have lost a loved one, it is a stupid and insensitive thing to say.

> Let's have a look at what he said: > “Please, if you haven’t yet, get your jab, as we learn to live with, rather than cower from, this virus.” Yes, that is what he said. So he's saying that there are two types of people in this world, those who live with it, and those who cower from it. The usual black- and- white divisive political dog- whistling populist claptrap.

I agree with New Judge very much.
Tho I don’t blame Mr Javid for deleting his tweet.
All he’s saying is let’s not be cowed by this.
It shouldn’t be IMO in any way disrespectful or insensitive to the bereaved. Or at least, it plainly was taken that way. That’s why you have to be careful what you say: sometimes tho it’s impossible to predict how people will take things and I don’t blame him for not seeing that coming

//There were 86 deaths yesterday.//
You are wrong. In fact if it was a typical day there were probably more than 1,500 deaths from all causes. But of course only the families of the 86 Covid victims were mournful. Those of the other 1,414 (or thereabouts) were jumping for joy, no doubt. Some of them would almost certainly have died from conditions which had remained either undiagnosed and/or untreated during the last year or so. But of course they don't matter.
The government and the rest of us cannot prevent everybody dying from everything. But it is clear from your statement about the 86 that we must prevent, at all costs, anybody dying from Covid, even if it means people may remain untreated for other equally life-threatening conditions. How long do you propose that situation should prevail? Covid is now currently a minor contributor to the overall number of daily deaths. Heart disease and dementia claim far more victims each and every day. It may not remain that way, but it is at present and has been for some time. Mr Javid was foolish to delete his Tweet. The country does need to live with the virus and not further destroy the economy and the population's health and wellbeing in a foolish attempt to eradicate it.

The only think Javid has done wrong is to delete his tweet(Well the other thing was of course to subscribe to TwitFace in the first place).
The people with Coviditus really need to get a grip, the country has to get moving or there wont be any money for our 'Amazing' NHS to treat your beloved Covid. As NJ points out it is no longer a major contributor to deaths.
The vaccines are working and together with immunity from people catching it and recovering (the majority of those getting it of course) we are in a good place.
I'm also sick to death of stats being manipulated, percentages used when numbers are low to scare those that dont understand stats and graphs that are using out of date data with modelling that is beyond belief.
