Why should they be ‘bribed’ to get the vaccine, if they haven’t had it !it means they don’t want it !!!
And that’s surely where it should stop?

The problem with rewards/incentives like this is that some peopel may start to hang on till the incentives get bigger- maybe an X box or £100 voucher- and next time a vaccinne comes along, maybe winter flu people may wait for a decent incentive

that's sort of true, pixie, but the virus doesn't not want to kill us either. It just does what it does, and if that kills all its hosts then it too will die, which is bad luck all round. The Black Death wiped out maybe a third, maybe half of Europe.

JJ you have it wrong, the 100 is not to get jabbed it’s to get us back on the high street spending money.
They tried to restrict it to jabbed only but was told it would be unlawful

The reason we have so many riff raff on our streets, unruly kids,robbers, lager pigs is because we've had years of parents bribing their kids with gifts just to get them to do what they should be made to do anyhow, but the parents hadn't not got the halls to enforce the rules. Any vaccines for minors should be made by parents, and I believe that is the case, adults, its your call and no one else.

All the things that are important that need to doing in this country and others, will only ever be talked about just to shut people up. But they will never never be acted on because it hurts to many bank accounts. The earth is burning in front of our eyes, and the powers that be are crawling at a snails pace, no vaccine will save us from that.

I’m not sure anyone has suggested the vaccines are going to stop global warming.

I agree that this situation is far from ideal: we shouldn’t need to be bribing people.

I heard this on the radio this morning and nearly spat my coffee out !! Only I heard they were offering them pizza. Do people really think that someone not committed to the jabs will be swayed by the offer of free pizzas or kebabs ?? Bloody ridiculous in my opinion. When are we just going to let all this drop and LIVE with the virus, like we do with the flu virus and just get on with our lives ? If people still want to self isolate and wear masks, fine, but let the rest of us get back to as near a normal life as possible which is what I am trying to do !

Not a good comparison. At the end of a war there is usually a winning side and a losing side. This is not a conflict that humans can win and to see it as such is foolish. The best that can be hoped for is, in common with all other such outbreaks (among which this is by no means unique or much different) and accommodation will be reached where humans can live alongside the virus as far as possible. Talk of “beating” it is, I am afraid, likely to lead to the situation they face in Australia where they have adopted a “zero Covid” strategy which will never work (and which I think they are now beginning to realise).

"Kebabs for Jabs"? Absolutely stupid idea. Young people either want the vaccine or they do not. If they are so fickle as to be persuaded by the offer of some gristle and fat inside a bit of bread then they really don't deserve it anyway.

As I keep saying, if the government wants everybody to be vaccinated they will have to get a bill through Parliament to have it made compulsory. That will almost certainly fail (quite rightly in my opinion) so the country will have to live with the situation where the majority of the population is vaccinated but a minority are not.
