//The photo on the UKiP poster was of Syrian Refugees at the Slovenian border. They were implying illigal immigrants will swamp us to ‘Breaking Point’.//
You shouldn't believe anything that any politician (of any persuasion) tells you, Gromit. Only a fool does that. Some of what they tell you might be correct or true but most of it is Male Bovine Excrement.
//Can any brexiteers give us anything they have benefited from in leaving the EU ?//
It wasn't about gaining benefits, Anne. It was about the UK embarking on a different political model that did not see it bound to a supranational unelected quango. The benefits of that will come later and should certainly be expected to materialise in six months.
As far as Turkey goes, it is still an official candidate nation to join the EU. "Negotiations" (I think that's the word used) have been ongoing since 1999. Those negotiations, along with those of the other four official candidates (Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) are likely to be ongoing for some time because, quite honestly (if only the EU would accept the fact) none is suitable to join a union of Western European nations. However, as with earlier candidates who were similarly unsuitable but were ultimately accepted, a way will no doubt eventually be found to admit them (if the EU does not wind up first, that is).
