Boris is now claiming that Thatcher gave the U/K an early start in Climate Change, by closing the coal mines down..... Absolute rubbish coming from Boris as usual....
.......Thatcher took the miners on because she Hated Scargill and the working class.

Thatcher was a despotical tyrant who deliberately ruined the manufacturing base of this country, to the benefit of her husbands cronies, and to the detrement of millions of people who she knew would face years and years of hardship. Some areas have never recovered. She should have been hanged in Parliament Square for treason. She did more harm to the...

17.11 Vulcan if you took your Blinkers off and went to specsavers to cure your tunnel vision and threw away your certificate of Radicalisation. You would also learn a lot more than you think you know at the moment .
Leon - //And surprise, surprise they have the same initials as Adolph Hitler.//

Ironically, you have the same initials as Loony Bin, which reading some of your pearls of wisdom, seems likely to be where you're posting from.
Back to the op, I despised Thatcher and what her and her cronies did and stood for. She destroyed the manufacturing industries in my area ( as well as the coal mines ), manufacturing hasn't gotten over her era and never will.
And you Mozz (if it were initialised as opposed to being spelt) have the same initials as a MOULDY OLDEY ZANEY ZEBRA. Which means you have stripy skin and big yellow teeth and sleep in a pooey old jungle. So there.

But I am 5 feet 10 and a half which means I am great.

And you have been reported for homophobia!!!!!!

Glad to see ABers enjoying themselves! Just come in to have a laugh. Oh to go back to the good old days on here! How things have changed.
A great news thread. Oh for the days of AOG!
Alas it must be assumed that poor old AOG has gone to the celestial AB. We shall not see his like again.

I miss Mikey, good man.
I miss Mikey too.

He was the only ABer on the left who was capable of forming a coherent argument - he’d be spinning in his grave with the pony you spout Gulliver.
True Jackdaw. AOG kept the news section going. There were great arguments, but mainly intelligent arguments, even when heated. Sadly missing now with threads like this. Still some great people on here who respect each other. But sadly the idiots ruin it.

Deskdiary 22.50 ,You were allowed to stay with the adults until late last night ,it was way past your bed time , was it a special treat for your birthday or something. never mind you haven't got school today.
Thanks for the BA, Gulliver. Whilst some people on here seem to revel in the way Thatcher dealt with the unions, and are justifying what she did, I think it was reaction politics from her. The Tories had no plan to follow up all the devastation that their action was causing and knew that hardship would follow. They did nothing to relieve that hardship and as one consequence, we had riots that followed.

However, for all of that, I do not believe Thatcher would have dealt with this pandemic in the way Johnson has. He has been useless, lacking leadership and only interested in exercising power. Thatcher would not have closed down the country and would have demanded a better alternative.

But no doubt it was the Falklands factor that got her re-elected in 1983. Prior to the Falklands the Tories were making a complete town halls of the economy and were destined for an electoral hammering, so, all you Tories must be eternally grateful for General Galtieri! :o)
