I lean more to the left but I am not blind to the many mistakes and failings of any party.
I met Pete Wishart MP when he came to my Oxfam shop. It was when the expenses scandal was kicking off and the media were baying for blood.
He said that he was just back from Malawi and had attended to a meeting of Politicians. He said that they were all pretty scary looking and all of them were armed to the teeth. They put their machine guns on the table on front of them.
Very few politicians are in it for genuine humanitarian reasons. They make some stupid mistakes but they try to make things better (whilst also lining their pockets).
Personally I think that Larry the Cat is planning on overthrowing the govt before Christmas.

wolf63: "TTT it will win votes just like things like the Baby Boxes." - yes when you are robbing Peter to pay Paul you can always rely on support from Paul.
"I lean more to the left but I am not blind to the many mistakes and failings of any party." - well socialism has been shown a failure countless times, many approaches have been used to show devotees that it cannot possibly work, yet this sort of thing comes up regularly.
"I met Pete Wishart MP when he came to my Oxfam shop. It was when the expenses scandal was kicking off and the media were baying for blood." - He's a clueless dreamer, he's happy to consign Scotland to penury as long as he gets his MPs wedge. He should stick to MP4 he's well suited there.
If you can get paid for doing effall then people will, who will pay for the show? It's a very simple equation, beyond the left unfortunately.

"Well let's see shall we, everyone gets a certain amount each month regardless of whether they earn it or not, sounds bit like socialism"
Giving money to those that are already rich, is socialism ?
And Jackdaw33 wonders what happened "to Corbyn's magic money tree"...
Perhaps you have been turning a blind eye jackdaw, the tree was always there (but well hidden), it was not ever Corbyn's, and it was put to ample use during the pandemic
" During 2020, the Bank of England has increased QE three times, the first back in March to £645 billion, then in June to £745 billion and again today to £875 billion.5 Nov 2020"
