The US should have got out of Afghanistan 18 years ago, so he has managed to do something that has evaded Trump, Obama, Clinton and Bush. Leaving was definitely the correct policy.
But the manner in which he has thrown allies to the wolves is appalling.

The bean counters told him that a proper evacuation would take several more months, and be very expensive and he decided it would be cheaper and more expedient to just abandon them.

It is an indelible stain on the Americans. There should be an inquiry, and maybe should step down depending on what that says.

I don't think resigning is enough. No doubt he was advised throughout this fiasco to withdraw from the country but to bring out US civilians and others at risk first. Whether this advice was ignored or he wanted a grand gesture remains to be seen, but deciding to withdraw the troops first created a space for the taliban to exploit, with the terrible tragedy that ensued. In my opinion Biden should be impeached for putting American lives at risk and causing unnecessary deaths by removing the troops first.

no he's done the right thing why should he resign? It could have been handled better perhaps but that's the septics for you. The last thing we want is Harris in charge of the free worlds, now that would be a calamity.

I don’t think Biden has handled this well but ultimately he’s carrying out an albeit reckless election pledge and there is no alternative policy or change of course in the pipeline.
This is a ball the previous administration set rolling
If Biden steps aside there wouldnt be an election of course. That’s not how the federal government works

It’s interesting because a few weeks ago I asked the question: is it folly for the US to leave Afghanistan in the way Biden was intending and most here seemed to be of the opinion they couldn’t leave which enough!
All of us, me included, can be wise after the event of course
