when it comes to COVID.

Plenty more evidence is available that the Aussies have lost their minds over covid but this particular incident is shocking.

if Australia has lost anything, it's sight of the fact that a "zero covid" policy is doomed to failure. despite some of the most draconian access restrictions anywhere on the planet, covid has still got in, and requires ever more serious limitations on the population to try to bring it under control. what's next - people confined to their home with their doors...

In any case, that clip shows a few police officers - it doesn't indicate that the whole of Australia and every Aussie has 'lost it'.
Never thought I would see the Aussies let themselves be cowed and bullied by a bunch of power mad politicians. Pregnant woman arrested for organising a protest, rescue dogs and puppies shot to dissuade people travelling to adopt them, drinking outside, OUTSIDE!, without a mask banned and the booze confiscated. How do you drink anything with a mask on, and is it easier outside? Only allowed out for 1 hour to exercise. People grassing up each other for alleged covid regulation breaches ... and more. Dear oh dear what has happened to them. Someone asked why we would care a jot here in the UK. I will tell you why we look on with dismay. We used to have a lot to do with Australia and the people there. If it is anything like everywhere else that we have left to their own devices, when it goes bits up we get the blame. It all becomes our fault and compensation is demanded. I notice that the Aussies are only brave from a distance now. See 8.46.

Yes, I read that, which is why I posted the link.

The DM were not there. They have watched the YouTube video and phoned the relevant police station and got comments from them which they have quoted in the article.

The man was not wearing a mask, scuffled with the police and was arrested. End of.
Got your union jack boxer shorts on Togo
Along with a sweat stained string vest?

There are lots of 'dubbed' videos of Australians 'acting' doing the rounds.

Silly me for not knowing about the dubbing and acting. (what is wrong with the Australian public?)

He was also carrying a knife
Well you got out of bed the wrong side today 1Ozzy.

Still, not surprised with what is going on down there.

Dream on
I'm looking forward to understanding what side of the bed I should arise from Youngmaf.
Maybe one day I'll know;-/
As somebody who is actually there, 1ozzy, it would be interesting to hear your perspective on Covid in Australia ...
But weren't there similar cries of police brutality here when all this first started ? They certainly went over the top many, many times ...
Well I can’t speak for all of Oz but down here in South Oz things are going very smoothly - we wear our masks, don’t give the bobbies too much lip ....and we have no unidentified cases in spite of truckers from the eastern states romping through nilly-willy !!

How’re things in your neck of the woods 1ozzy ?
On the other hand, my daughter lives in Melbourne where they have lockdown ( luckily they both work from home ) and have to contend with certain religious groups who believe ...we’ll who knows what they believe but their life is one big party and abiding by the rules doesn’t apply to them !!

And what’s happening in Sydney & NSW is totally beyond the comprehension of most of us !!

What is happening in Sydney & NSW, seekeerz?
Careful folks, you're talking about one of our major trading partners ;-)

Very complicated situation roy, when the delta strain started to appear Sydney went into a type of lockdown, however many groups decided not to abide by the rules ...stay home, wear masks, etc .....a great number didn't and now there's 1000+ new cases every day, also deaths each day and it's expected to peak sometime in October because of the vaccination rates ....I'm not convinced over this, I fear it will be longer before they get on top of it.
I know this doesn't cover it particularly clearly but I do believe that part of the video may have been staged ...who knows why or for what reason, possibly the press, I can imagine the police are having one hell of job trying to get people to go along with the 'rules' and I've used the commas because its not rocket science, we need to get on top of this and it can be done

Now I'm off to have dinner, thank you for getting back to this ....usually I can stop any thread in its tracks simply by answering :)
Seekeerz goes a long way towards restoring our faith in the historically recognised Aussie pragmatism. The precious self aware wokery that has apparently been on the rise down there(no sniggering at the back) has been a source of much bemusement in most of the World. The bits that are still able to think for themselves that is.

what's next - people confined to their home with their doors nailed shut? curfew with violators summarily executed? it's the kind of measure (or worse) that will be needed. Mr Morrison needs to understand that as a virus, covid will spread, and it will keep spreading until it runs out of victims to infect, unless he introduces measures his population won't accept.

If they are to be believed then it would appear that the Chinese way of draconian is the way to go and massively reduces the later risks
Maybe if we tried it properly in the west we might have a chance
Imagine if this had happened on a street in Wuhan ? The guy would have disappeared so he should think himself lucky he is in Oz
