well the market will decide, if there is enough income for it to survive and/or thrive then it will. I personally don't think we need another rolling news channel but ultimately market conditions will decide.

I rarely watch/listen to any news channel beyond the first 2 minutes round up of the headlines. If I want in-depth I go to the internet or a newspaper.

It depends on your point of view, I guess. To some, The Morning Star is 'successful' - I think there are one or two on here who read nothing else !

i think "need" is the wrong word. There is certainly room for and appetite for something to shake up what we already have. I'm not sure GB news is that thing though

The trouble with projects like GBN that have "an agenda", particularly their original stated one, is that they are inevitably slanted in a particular direction. They impart aspects to their rivals which probaably only exist in their imagination and as a result end up being too self-consciously "different"
They started off catastrophically, and although they've got better their audience share appears to have plummeted from its original low levels. I cannot see it surviving in its current form.
It does a lot of mising news and opinion, with opinionated commentators adding their views to what they are reporting, which is a very American style and one I personally don't like.
Fundamentally, it might work if they can get the balance right and attract more diverse opinions, which in fairness I think they have tried to do, but I've just been watching a lady ranting about the government's Covid Plan B and casting doubts on the idea that the NHS is or has ever at any stage close to being "overwhelmed", something which I know for a fact HAS been the case, and she's not really being pulled up on it by the presenter.

Yes, we do need it to express, often majority, views which are given short shrift elsewhere in the totally woke broadcast media. I particularly like Andrew Doyle.

The words "rats" and "sinking ship" spring to mind when looking at Mr Neal's recent actions. I just don't think the UK is ready (or will ever be) for such obviously left or right politically orientated news networks such as they have in the US. They should instead concentrate on ensuring that the current news providers are completely unbiased, which currently they cannot 100% claim to be.

In an ideal world yes Mozz., but the problems are; we aren't in one & someone has to decide what is 'biased' or not. Much better to have a stated aim rather ( in this case centre-right) than the mealy-mouthed rest of the MSM who pretend to be unbiased but are far from it.
