Well if you think about it we’re dependent on lots of things. You have to get things from A to B somehow, be it food, fuel, electricity, gas, data etc etc. Not so long ago it was the drivers who were on strike or blockading fuel depots.

Then we realise how potentially fragile our lifestyles are.

The UK used to have truck drivers from all over Europe and supplies were plentiful and everone was happy . Then something happened to make them feel they were not welcome anymore , (can't think what it was).

I agree with YMB (I may have to lie down in a cool room for a while).

a capitalist system means the most important people get the highest pay; if lack of drivers brings the system to a halt, then the system isn't working. The government is keen to get driverless trains on the London underground for the same reason. Maybe Boris should be funding the development of driverless lorries?
