Higher taxes and bigger council tax bills are just two of the things that the Pandemic is causing , not the Government’s fault , no matter who was or is in power ,we’ve been systematically raped with the Pandemic so why shouldn’t China think of compensation , after all they’re a very rich economy….probably not a popular thought but it was never meant to be popular just thought provoking

On what basis?

Err, it’s where the pandemic was allowed to rampage before the rest of the world were told about it!
If Ebola escapes from Africa do you want compensation from them?
Do you have evidence that China was negligent?
Question Author
Have you any that they weren’t?
"systematically raped" is not an appropriate phrase to use especially given current events
Apt that you should ask the question apropos the Manchester Conference.
The Industrial revolution kicked off in Manchester over 200 years ago, and we have been polluting every year ever since.
China flipped from an agricultural economy to an industrial one less than 50 years ago. So have been polluting 3 quarters less.

If compensation is to be paid, the UK owe 4 times what China might expect to pay.
To me, the idea is a non-starter.
The problem is, we knew it was in China, before it moved to Europe- we are just an island and chose to allow people- and covid- back in. If quicker more severe steps had been taken... we could have prevented it coming in.

Well Gromit, what a surprise you have somehow managed to twist this thread into yet another British bashing. Have you considered moving to a country that is more to your taste since you clearly hate everything about this one, past and present?

Bobbi, aint going to happen I'm afraid. Whilst it does seem that China has a lot to answer for I'm not entirely sure there is sufficient proof of creating the so called pandemic.

Still, for those that feel strongly about it there is always a boycott of their products, whilst some products are pretty much impossible to avoid there are plenty that can be.

BOBBI, if I claimed that some of the moon is made of green cheese, do you have evidence to refute that?
It’s an absolute non starter and has not been thought through at all
Question Author
The problem with a boycott ymb is just about everything we import comes from China so we’d be biting the hand that feeds us then
