Answer. They are all private energy suppliers who have recently gone bust.

I wonder how much money each Board member took out of these companies (non-refundable of course, that's how Capitalism works).

Surely it's time that such fly-by-night tactics were made illegal, and the "limited liability" privilege be removed from these faux entrepreneurs.

What should be made illegal is small disruptor companies forming that only ever supply a customer base measured in tens of thousands with tariffs below the level that would allow them to make a profit. Running at a loss is why they lose investors and fold.
it means customers get cheap energy while it lasts, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But yes, how much money do the officers snaffle for themselves before the enterprise goes under?
"cheap energy while it lasts" is a bad thing when the more reputable larger companies with a sustainable business model have to rescue those customers and absorb the losses.
they don't have to "rescue" them exactly: they will charge them a lot more than they've been paying, and I think that's fair enough (short of actual extortion).
Why just these company's canary. Couldn't you apply the same 'logic' to all businesses including family businesses, small shops and Sole traders, snall independent coffee shops pubs ect all of which take risks provide jobs and services and sometimes go bust. Would you prefer just to have a few giants like starbucks and eon or even have every business owned by goverment.
Yes some traders are bad uns but you can't assume they've all run off with are money
How do you decide whose a faux entepreneuer anyway? Have you studied all there accounts for these company's.? Completion is good but I agree there were to many in this market. But you could say the same about pubs or restraints or anything
Coffee shops, pubs and small traders don't provide a vital service. What you say is true but totally out of perspective.
All selling an identical product, and unregulated.
Part of the reason we are in the state we are in now.
And of course when the balloon goes up and prices ricket, "deals" go out of the window
//pubs don't provide a vital service.//

I think a fair few would disagree with you there!

I agree pretty much with what Bobb has written although with some of these it is fair to say they were operating as little more than Ponzi schemes.

I think we all know what Canary would like, given his many communist style posts. But sadly I doubt he will be back to tell us.
