Plus Manifesto Breaking.....Tax increase.

The uc ones are nor really losing £20 there just getting what they use to get before the covid top up (not sure why they got it). But it's a big cut and once your used yo it you miss it. And because of clawback and tax & ni they'd need to do 8-10 hours extra a week not just a few hours.

I have no problem with any politician having a second job. They are not living off the State, and as long as they pay the correct Taxes then I can't see what the problem is, as long as their job as an MP is not hindered.

Gulli you are so out of touch with reality. The average MP salary is about £87K. Most of the senior leaders of my company earn that and way more, as does undoubtedly most senior management in any company. Not just capitalist companies either - the NHS, Councils, Charities all have staff on way over that.
You use this argument as if they are the super rich.

As an aside moaning about the £20 scrapping of the UC uplift makes my blood boil. It was given willingly to tide over during a difficult time. It was never a permanent thing. Now it's being withdrawn (as let's face it working life is well on way to normality) the left want to scream it's a cut. Typical of the benefit dependent, give an inch and they take a mile.

Ministers earning from a second job has nothing to do with UC or pensions. The later have to be paid for by the tax payers the former by the companies that employ them (and which no doubt have some tax paid on the earnings).

Having said that though I dont like the second job thing for MP's which is why I am of the opinion the HoC should be halved in numbers and the MP's salaries doubled, with limited expenses. I would also advocate a maximum of 15 years service every 30.
