Yes, SNP/Scottish goverment and Welsh goverment are saying the Torys are not doing enough and should of kept masks all along and Labour wants more restrictions on things like reintroducing day 8 tests for people coming in

Why should they have done that? I know you don't like to be bothered with numbers too much, but here are the figures for England and Wales for the last two weeks:

Wales: Population 3.17m; cases 31,585 (9,964 per million)
England: Population 56.22m; cases 494,988 (8,804 per million)

Thanks danny but I'm not questioning masks. It was newjudge who is because he says wales and scotland had kept them compulsory in shops yet there figures are higher.

You can use any period you like (so long as one country had a mask mandate throughout and the other didn’t). I just chose the last fortnight because the numbers are easier to come by and Wales had a mask mandate whist England didn’t. I agree there are many other factors in play, not only here but everywhere else. That’s why it’s impossible to make any firm conclusions about the wearing of face coverings. With that in mind:

It doesn’t necessarily “stand to reason”. The stock answer is always “the numbers would have been higher [without the restrictions].” That is not a given fact but one of many possible conclusions.

Maybe you should read the scientific studies then newjudge. There all much more scientific than your far to simplistic analysis of comparing two countrys.
