If this pair are attacked in prison they will have the right to sue if they can show they weren't given adequate protection and the prisoners that attack them could be back in court and have years added to their sentence.
There are plenty of firms offering no win, no fee claims to victims of violence in prison.

This story leaves a nasty taste in my mouth and whatever helps one and it is horrific, he has been judged and sentenced and will serve his sentence.
He has not been sentenced to death.

The responsibility of the prison system is to separate him from the public whilst punishing him from his unspeakable crime.

It is also the responsibility of HMPs to keep him safe from further punishment.

It also depends who is on who is on yard duty that day ;-)

I was once on exercise in HMP Shrewsbury
(When I say 'Exercise' I mean that I was sitting down and having a smoke outdoors)...
When I noticed that the other cons (who were circulating the 'Exercise' Yard) began 'bunching' up.
The Yard screws turned around and faced the other way while an inmate then got the kicking of his life. would be surprissed if he had a tooth left in his head!
The screws then decided, after a minute or so, to blow an alarm!

Turns out that the inmate in question was inside for biting chunks out of his kids.

Sometimes, both inmates and Screws have things in common.
Both have families.

The best thing we can do as members of society is be alert to other families who may be in similar positions. Nothing we can now do for that wee boy.
