Humanitarian Disaster

Why can we not prevent people from having children when they live in deprived or disaster areas? Ever since I was at junior school there have been appeals for starving children yet they are still being born - the latest humanitarian crisis is in Afghanistan yet you would think their people are intelligent enough to not keep having more children when they can't afford to feed them.

I could roar with laughter at my friend who is now deceased - she was funny - she said I am over 70 and they are still looking a penny for the black babies - we Catholic schools did have to do that. She thought the money should have been spent on the pill.

I agree with you Lankeela - it is so sad looking at these poor agonising children - I switch over.

But what i believe is why can't their own governments pay for these little ones?

Should not need to be compulsory - any mother would surely want to prevent it if given the opportunity. Why would you knowlingly bring a child into the word knowing you could not feed it?

Afghans don't have our fabulously generous pension system so they need to have children who will keep them in their old age? The British have done the same for much of this country's existence.

Maybe we should stop meddling in other countries before we tell them they should not procreate.

To be fair western governments did their best there for 20 years
Nobody can say it was about oil either
To that end we have stopped meddling and put the country back in the hands of the mob who were there previously

It's been shown that in animals, when the local population is under threat the rate of reproduction increases. It is probably a natural instinct to preserve the gene pool.

Why should the human race be any different?

US/UK were instrumental in putting the Taliban in power prior to 911. Before that the Russians were instrumental in deposing the Afghan monarchy.
It is a sh*tshow because they are constantly being invaded by the superpowers.

we have needy people here in UK, who helps them for heavens sake.
The thinking seems to be that the more children you have in these places, then some will survive to look after the parents when their time comes.

DrM, stop with the guilt trip, we are now out of these God forsaken countries, heaven help us why we ever went to Iraq, Afghanistan i will never know. Cheap opium, is that the best you can do. The Taliban now have control i don't know why we need to keep on helping.
