Gromit is correct. It's like when that bloke was snatched of the streets by gangsters. They drove him to a warehouse and he was beaten to a pulp by some other gangsters. The bloke couldn't catch a break...his feet were then set in post-fix and he was dumped in the canal.

With a law-breaker running the country, what do you expect ?

The authorities in Bristol should have known for years that complaints against the philanthropist was a major cause of irritation to significant sections of the population, and that any action against anything commemorating his generosity would cause major outrage by those aforementioned decent section of the community.

And not only should the statue not have been removed, those who commit criminal damage should not be let off due to a perverse verdict. Is there no option to appeal ?

Meanwhile the statue should be returned to it's former position and adequate security tech installed to ensure criminal types don't do it again.

The city is gradually being dragged down the drain by inadequate authorities, inactive police, and hooligan types allowed to do as they wish.
