Does anyone want to join me in guessing the outcome of the Enquiry - which will be that the government has done nothing illegal?

It’s already been leaked that that will be the case. No recommendations made to the Met Police for example
Although that was before the revelations about funeral eve parties and other stuff

I’d be surprised if the enquiry went that far anyway.
“Wait for the enquiry” feels like a can-kicking exercise by the PM.
No doubt regardless of the outcome there’ll be another one

Personally, it doesn’t bother me if no legal action is taken, it was a while ago now and you can be damn sure that the people who’ll get punished won’t be those at the very top.

Well it absolutely bothers me!!

The passage of time does nothing to nullify the offences committed, or the gross offence to the rest of the country.

What really bothers me is the culture of drinking and partying in Westminster that seems not to exist in the rest of the country.

No-one else seems to think that they need to 'decompress' or whatever other garbage term they want to come up with, at the end of a week at work, for which they are handsomely rewarded.

It's unacceptable that a culture of drinking and partying is so 'normal', that no-one seems to question it when it is against the law.

And it's not as if they don't know what the law is - they created the flaming thing!!!

It points to the arrogance and stupidity of the government of this country, and its employees from the top down.

Boris may well get away with the legal aspects of what his people have done, but the repugnant immorality will take longer to be forgotten.

Although she might have sought a legal opinion on the incidents, it's not up to her to say if any actions were legal or no as that would be up to the Met Police.

BLM did not set any rules/mandates/Legislative Instruments nationally that were legally enforceable.

I fully expect Boris will be exonerated. His excuse that he didn’t know it was a party will be believed. A suitcase full of wine, his wife and child with him, but Boris thinks he was working.
While the police were busy handing out £1000 fines to Joe Public, Downing Street got a Police guard while they partied.

For a man who thinks it is perfectly OK to give his mistress a £126k contract from the organisation that employs him, and to lie about the woman being his mistress – it must be galling (for him) to find that Joe Public thinks breaking the law to have a few drinks with work colleagues & friends is not on.
