“I don’t believe we will get to 54. It is a big number. You would need to see more people coming out publicly. People need to calm down. We would look like a bunch of numpties on the world stage if we got rid of the PM over a drinks party.”
They really are so out of touch that they cannot see the mood of the public and how angry they are

Like at least one AB'er, the minister seeks to minimise the issue by referring to it as 'a drinks party'.
He, and everyone else, knows full well that attending a drinks party is not an issue - unless you are part of the government that has just passed a law banning the population from attending drinks parties.
