TTT - // wonder if AH ever met/interviewed him.... //
Sadly not.
I did see him live a couple of times, and my interview with his tour drummer was my first ever feature interview for Drummer Magazine.
On another occasion, I did have dinner with the band - a show was called off due to Meat's health concerns, so we went out to eat and had a really detailed 'rock and roll' conversation about ... health insurance.
On yet another occasion I did have a long conversation with his daughter Pearl and her husband Scott Ian from Anthrax, she was working as a backing singer in his band on tour.
Pearl explained that 'at work' he was all business, and treated her like any other band member, no favours, but off stage, he was just 'Dad', and a really sweet guy.
I clearly remember the week BOOH came out, I was visiting a friend at university, and she brought out a copy of the album on the old Epic yellow label.
She told me that she was going to play the album through both sides, twice, and after that I would be hooked on it for life.
She was absolutely right.
RIP Meatloaf, a sad loss.
