This crops up time and time again. An interviewer asks a politician a question which the politician does not actually answer, instead opting to spew out party mantra. So the interviewer interrupts and asks the question again. All to no avail because the politician will continue to repeat his/her answer (rephrasing it from time to time) ad nauseum. It's not just Johnson who does this so it's not just him that is interrupted.
It's a dance they do, they only ask "have you stopped beating your wife" type questions and the interviewee uses the Jim Hacker technique. Until both sides start getting sensible neither side will get sensible.
No I don’t agree to be honest.
I don’t think most interviewers are “rude” as such. These are not job interviews or “cosy chats” as a rule tho as a matter of fact the much-maligned-by-some Nick Robinson has dine a few of those in his series and they are often the most illuminating.
That said I have heard a degree of let’s say abruptness often when a controversial personality general thought not to be popular is involved
I don't think it is Beth Rigby who I cannot stand anyway. This was the last couple of days, where he was interviewed and asked about the 'blackmail' allegations.
