Queues of Lorries...... up to Nine miles long... are building up at the Port of Dover,
And the blame lies entirely on Brexit ...because of extra Controls and paperwork needed for each lorry.
It is taking up to half an hour for each lorry to be checked out. The Govt is being urged to hold Urgent talks with the E/U to try and ease even more paperwork that is going to come into force later this year.
..........Be prepared for more empty supermarket shelves ..........

Get ready for tens of posts saying there are no gaps on the supermarket shelves in their area.

We have known since 2016 that extra paperwork at Ports would be needed. Why aren’t there enough people working at the Ports to process the traffic more quickly?
And more controls are coming later in the year – who amongst us would have been foolish enough to vote for Brexit?
We could end unemployment in the UK by all becoming customs officials.
There is virtually no unemployment in the UK. Anybody who wants a job should have no difficulty finding one. There are about 1.3m people in the UK who do not work. But that's not the same thing at all.
Funny, the shelves in my local supermarkets are full and with Valentines day stuff and Easter eggs, oh and what happened to the fuel shortage, did we suddenly find 50,000 tanker drivers.

Perhaps Gully can explain these anomalies.

"the shelves in my local supermarkets are full"

Right on cue!
Except for those with certain criminal records, Hymie, and the uneducated and illiterate. A customs officer must have minimum 5 GCSEs but usually has a degree.
You are a day late...the queue has gone.

Got everything I went for in the local Asda yesterday...no empty shelves.
NJ, there may well be more vacancies than people out of work but my experience of the positions advertised in job centres (albeit a good few years back) is that many will require a few years experience with no on site training offered. Not everyone who is willing to work is able to find a job.
