No Mozz I find it amusing that people would visit tea rooms/ shops to ask about Cummings , it may not show in the link but it was on my local news of locals being interviewed
I like Barnard Castle. Many years ago 1st MrJ2 and I took daughters and schoolfriend on a really successful caravan holiday there. We ran out of b'b'q fuel so the girls scoured the fields for twigs... good fun - and the swan was great too.
It seems a shame that people only go there because of brief notoriety. Current MrJ2 and I have been planning a trip there - roll on decent weather.
My dad was stationed there during the war when he met my mum.
Not sure its anyone being gullible, more like it was bought to their attention. It's like advertising.

And of course the locals are going to use Cummings, why not if it helps them make a buck or two.
Well it is a tourist attraction isn't it?
