In her resignation letter she wrote :
I believe it was
wrong for you to imply this week
that Keir Starmer was personally
responsible for allowing Jimmy
Savile to escape justice.
"There was no fair or reasonable
basis for that assertion. This was

politics; it was an inappropriate
and partisan reference to a
horrendous case of child sex
abuse.
"You tried to clarify your position
today but, despite my urging, you

misleading impression you gave."
Just will not listen to anyone will he ?
At least someone else in his entourage ‘gets it’ and has done the honourable thing
When will Boris do the same ?

Nothing more boring than the leader of a country running off at the mouth when cornered is there Zacs? What is everybody thinking? Ganging up on an inadequate who's only trying his best. A chancer, a liar, a bully and now it seems, a huffy teenager in the body of a man.

yeah I thought TTT's hally-clew-jah a bit - er maladroit
Boris-ish even.
Zacks (bless) can find tedium in the most interesting political days. Did anyone like Koonzie's ( Laura Kuensberg silly!) reference to the apocalypse ( of St John the Divine, silly, not Apocalypse Now! lardy lardy) - "and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood," Rev 6 12 (*)
As a fully paid up Marxist I thought she was just playing with us
(*) dark sun - eclipse, Blood moon well known both have explanations

The leader of the Conservative Party, and Jimmy Savile, in happier times…

Do you really believe Starmer wasn’t aware that the finger was pointing at Savile, ich? Really? A high profile figure who enjoyed the society of the rich and famous and rubbed shoulders with the influential? If he didn’t, all I can say is he wasn’t fit for office. The buck stops with the boss!
———-
I too often wondered that when you consider how big a fan he was of Margaret Thatcher
She must have heard a rumour or three along the way especially in light of the propensity with which he was photographed with her ?
Staff at the bbc were aware of his behaviour for years by all accounts ?
Oh well

//Four close aides ,including Munira Mirza ,have resigned...//
These partygate attendees are jumping out before they are pushed out, they know they were doomed anyway. Also it isn't going to be a great hindrance to their careers, it's off to the treasury I believe, that is unless the cops have other ideas.

You obviously failed to read the resignation letter of Munira Mirza
The main crux :
Dear Prime Minister,
It is with great regret that I am writing to resign as your Head of Policy.
You are aware of the reason for my decision: I believe it was wrong for you to imply this week that Keir Starmer was personally responsible for allowing Jimmy Savile to escape justice. There was no fair or reasonable basis for that assertion. This was not the normal cut-and-thrust of politics; it was an inappropriate and partisan reference to a horrendous case of child sex abuse. You tried to clarify your position today but, despite my urging, you did not apologise for the misleading impression you gave.
It goes on….
Even now, I hope you find it in yourself to apologise for a grave error of judgement made under huge pressure. I appreciate that our political culture is not forgiving when people say sorry, but regardless, it is the right thing to do. It is not too late for you but, I’m sorry to say, it is too late for me.
Sounds more like a damning indictment to me than someone jumping before they are pushed

Munira Mirza for one was no “party gater”
She’d been working away from Downing Street, not in fact all that good for her from a work point of view but probably better from other viewpoints.
Her resignation and the reasons it are absolutely devastating for the PM: she was effectively his deputy mayor a few years back and has been his political soul mate for years.
I posted yesterday that it feels like the end times. Which oddly enough is more or less exactly what one cabinet minister has since said.
If he can recover from this situation fair play to him (but probably not “by” him)
