We once had a landing like that at Liverpool but the touchdown was very light - sweet as a nut.
The hardest landing I had was at Melbourne in perfectly still conditions - we hit so hard it made my teeth rattle!
So they warn against driving in the South but then try to land a plane.

Makes Sense.
Mind you dave, your teeth were in the overhead locker ;-)
very very quick squiddly
There are more videos of aircraft attempting to land today at Heathrow here:

My friend was due to fly with Ryanair from Trieste to Stansted today but cancelled her plans. That was probably for the best as, according to FlightRadar24, the flight never left. Even if she'd have managed to get to Stansted though, she would still have had problems, as all train Greater Anglia train services have been suspended.

Very few flights at all are landing at Stansted. The arrivals board is showing 'Refer to airline' against every flight. One flight from Milan has tried to land though and already aborted twice. Another flight, from Istanbul, has been stuck in a holding pattern for ages, presumably while waiting for a break in the weather.
Was watching Big Jet tv on the Heathrow landings live. One flight having had two ‘go arounds’ was apparently diverted to Geneva!

We’re due to fly into Gatwick on Sunday morning but will have to await any knock on delays.
I've just been watching a plane trying to land at Leeds Bradford airport on flight radar . After the forth attempt it appears to be now heading for Carlisle .
Well it's just past Carlisle ! It must be going to Edinburgh ?

We’ve fared very well here in Newcastle….nothing at all
Edinburgh it is safely down now . But it a long bus journey back to Leeds poor sod's
Leeds/Bfd. is a very exposed runway and it's high up. I wouldn't have liked to be on any plane today. ( It was perfectly OK here this morning by the way - blustery and rainy so I got out and back safely and we made it to a medial appointment in the afternoon easily enough, but it's getting bad now. )
I hold tightly to my seat anyway even on a normal plane landing - poor people must have been terrified.
Its being really bad in West Yorkshire from this afternoon. No way for me either.

They were showing the weather this morning on Jeremy Vine (Storms slot) they stuck with capturing an incoming plane that came out of the barely see weather, very wobbly I was thinking blimey! Hoping he landed safely being on live tv as well.
It was a case of 'go round , go round ' today .

Can you actually watch planes on Flightradar?
That caught my attention too Cpt.
Dusty was probably in the control tower ;-)
Yes bazile . Download the app . Flightradar24 .
Arkside . Dusty was sat in front of the fire keeping his toes nice and toasty.
>>> Can you actually watch planes on Flightradar?

You can't actually watch the planes but you can watch their tracks. That's why it's easy to spot 'go arounds', as a plane can be seen to line up with the airport's runway but then go past it and circle for another attempt.
Ahh, 'Planespotting'
This is from two years ago (Storm Dennis, 2020, at Heathrow) but it does illustrate how to land a plane sideways!
