// Conservative MPs are organising a revolt against the prime minister over the scrapping of a ban on the imports and sale of fur and foie gras.
Government sources have confirmed to the Guardian that reports of a U-turn were “broadly correct”, despite the fact the bans were mentioned in the government’s action plan for animal welfare and aimed at bringing swing voters on side. //
If I’m reading that correctly there is currently no ban on imports - only on production in this country - so no ban on imports to ‘scrap’ - in which case the article is misleading.
Given the massive tax rise about to bite in April plus the cost of domestic fuel becoming silly-expensive, I doubt foie gras will be on the menu anytime soon!!!
The facts are exactly the same, the Government have changed their mind.
// The UK government is likely to drop plans to ban imports of fur and foie gras, amid cabinet opposition.
The measures were due to be included in the Animals Abroad Bill, to be introduced soon.
But several cabinet ministers have raised different concerns.
Some - including Brexit opportunities minister Jacob Rees Mogg - have raised concerns about personal choice.
The BBC has been told that Mr Rees Mogg believes the government should not be imposing restrictions on consumers. //
Gromit "What facts have changed ? " - no idea, ok it's no longer the direction they want to go in, maybe priorities have changed who knows but to change your path on an intention is not a lie.
Putin is about to start WWIII and Gromit is floundering around fringe issues to have a go at the government! PMSL I guess party gate has gone away he needs some other trivia to distract us with.
TTT,
World War III is not about to start.
The promise to ban fur imports was in the Conservatives election manifesto, so they have broken a promise. Remains to be seen how big the revolt will be, but it will further damage Johnson, which will be good new.
ToraToraTora
A change of mind is not a lie.
