Just skimmed it. As I said before Russia has genuine concerns about ethnic Russians in Ukraine but I don't think that justifies full scale military action, laying waste a country & murdering civilians. What does Putin think he is going to do with the mess he makes - to try to rule Ukraine from the Kremlin will result in an endless geurilla war & many Russian occupiers will die.

No it is not a good article. Not insightful nor accurate.
It is a piece of trolling by a dumb tourist.
He observed war ships at Sebastopol and made an ill informed call that one day they would be fighting each other. In 2010 it was a fragile peace, but that didn’t make a Russian invasion inevitable. Putin seizing the Russian Presidency in 2012 made it inevitable, and Crimea was annexed (illegally occupied) two years later.
