We live in a changing world.
We have voluntarily followed the US in imposing sanctions on Venezuela and Iran, though we don’t really have much of a quarrel with them.
We won’t buy oil and gas from them, and prefer to buy from Russia instead. Surely we now have to reassess that? If the EU stops buying Russian gas imports then the Russian economy will be ruined, and the war would end.

Also, if The EU and US imposes a ban on Russian energy imports, and China steps in for Putin’s oil and gas, should we impose secondary sanctions on China?

That might take years - I would rather the war ended in days or weeks at most. But yes, we should re-evaluate all our energy sources.
We may need to yes.
And we have to help the US and Saudi Arabia patch up relations which are understandably toxic at the moment

The last thing we should do is impose sanctions on China.
In any case there’s no way they could compensate for a full on western boycott of Russian oil and gas
Firstly though we (the UK) should look to our own shores for self sufficiency in energy followed by any shortfall being made up with locals like Europe. It is an absolute nonsense, and certainly not green in any sense except the 'Emperors clothes' to shout how little oil/gas/coal we dig up and then buy it in from afar with filthy polluting tankers bringing it in.
The Eco zealots need to be put intheir place it is listenting and pampering to them that has enabled this war on the Ukrainians. They should be hanging their heads in shame, but I doubt they will do that.

Back to the question on re-evaluation, yes of course we should. Whenever sanctions or similar are applied they should be reviewed regularly as a matter of course. I suspect though they are behind the scenes.
If it reduces my monthly gas and electric bill from £600 a month from April (I’m not heating a bloody swimming pool for god’s sake), then yes.
