The Boeing 737 Max is still grounded worldwide. The plane that has crashed was not a Max, but the previous model. It has a very good safety record (as does the airline), and over 7000 have been built.

It's not a Max. And to cause such a fall it must have been a catastrophic failure. So could easily be Pilot(suicide), explosion on a vital part e.g tail) or a mechanical/electronic failure.

Anything really at this point.

Apologies for the duff information. The 737 - Max returned to service 15 months ago.
This was a 737 - 800NG.

Pilot suicides/mass murder are very rare. A malfunction or pilot error is more likely. Just have to wait for the preliminary report.

It would have to be some pilot error to do a vertical dive. But like you say lets wait and see.

Mushroom, that rudder problem was on much earlier models in the 90's.
It was sorted, and won't be the cause of this
