Byron of course was delightfully raffish - the Byron look
mad bad and dangerous to know ( caroline lamb and blimey she plumbed the depths hur hur hur )
er kissed his half sister but the child was er normal by comparison
sold up his patrimony ( er father;s house) Newstead abbey
the half that um didnt fall down
and another half sister understood Babbages calculating engine ( = programmable computer)
makes sense to me

When will people understand the meaning of history and then move on?
"History is the study of change over time, and it covers all aspects of human society. Political, social, economic, scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious and military developments are all part of history."
N.B. critical word is "change"- OK?
Good grief, if we all made such an effort to drag up the past continually as it suits us there would be no hope for mankind.
Let it go, for goodness sake.
Contemporaneously - really? :D

In most instances I would fight off unfair bullying of poor Boris. But he is on his own with the twitter video.
He looks like a bumbling, drunk and not quite with it old uncle with no social graces forced to go to a party that he doesn't want to be at.
Not inspiring confidence as the leader of our country.!

sp; /Embarrassing/ ?
What embarrasses you about that strangely focussed on Boris video?
Plenty of other delegates are standing inactive, perhaps in deference to the seriousness of why they are there, & what their mission is supposed to be about.
In fact all the smiley, Luvvie fawning over one another is the REAL embarrassment.

Luvvie?
Luvvie????
That's the wrong word.
Luvvies are a particular kind of actor.
Perhaps you were looking for obsequious?
Anyway leaving that aside if Johnson wasn't in that video I doubt many would look at the other leaders and cringe, would they?
There are some standing about but the difference is that Boris looks like a 15 year old at a school disco who doesn't know what to do because it's twenty minutes before the end and he hasn't copped off with the girl from 5B he fancies.
