Varying reports but I've seen numbers from 4000 to 70,000 quoted. However many, this has a familiar ring to it. Shades of 1930s Germany - and the world watches - again.

Just because claims are being made by the Ukrainians does not make them true.

No doubt many have been given no choice but to leave and have ended up in Russia but whether they are now in forced labour or no is another matter.
“ ichkeria/ because unlike you i lived in the uk all my life i know what crap the bbc can put out”

Ah the Kraken awakes!

You’re so transparent
You ought to have been brave enough to keep your previous ID
You've lost me as usual
As usual ?

But you’ve only been here a week ;-)
As I said on my arrival to answer bank you can follow everything on here without being a member but you can't reply to anything did you know that ? No ?
Itchycoo, so you'll disbelieve the BEEB, but you lap up reports from a website whose tagline is "Blow the whistle on U.S. imperialism"?

Da comrade.
Itchycoo,
I notice from my weather app that it has been a lovely day in St. Petersburg today. You must get out more.
ichkeria
I'll give your replies a miss from now on, you must be very young, your coming across as childlike and petty. I'll just reply to the grown ups in future
It’s interesting to note that Ukraine now has more tanks than it had at the start of the war (!)

Meanwhile Russia’s defeat around Kyiv may only be temporary.
Unless we start supplying offensive as well as defensive weapons
It wouldn't surprise me. The things we know for certain are that Russia has invaded a different country and is deliberately bombing civilian targets.

Reports of individual atrocities are more difficult to verify.
I’d say most are true.
I can’t think why people would make that up.
The issue of what happens to people abducted to Russia is less clear
I can think why things would be made up in a time of war Ich. There's a report about Ukrainian soldiers shooting Russian prisoners in the legs. I don't necessarily believe that either. There are plenty of russian war crimes being done that are plain to see.
If they were shooting them it was pretty idiotic to film it!

It’s good to hear that no one believes the Russian claims to be “easing back”.
By their deeds shall ye judge them
The claims of forced relocation come from Ukraine officials. The Mayor of Mariupol is the source of many of the stories. Problem is he offered no evidence for what he was saying. The place is full of journalists and photographers who seem to have missed this mass atrocity. Mariupol is under heavy bombardment and many thousands are fleeing the area. Russia is the nearest safe place. But people have headed for Poland and Moldova too.

There has been at least one interview with a woman who was abducted from Mariupol, and given the choice between Donetsk or Russia. Unsurprisingly she chose the latter, but wants to return home asap.
The manipulation of peoples in E Ukraine has been a common factor in 8 years of war there. The choreographed countdown to the invasion began when sirens went off in Donetsk and Luhansk, with women and children ordered onto buses for Rostov etc. All to serve the aims of the Kremlin who plainly care nothing for people of whatever bakkground.
"The Mayor of Mariupol is the source of many of the stories. Problem is he offered no evidence for what he was saying"

I'd imagine the mayor of Mariupol is rather better placed than any of us to pontificate about the situation there.
It's beyond doubt that people have been abducted. Just to repeat that I don't think anyone really knows what happens beyond that.
I don't thnk there has been much on Russian TV about it ...

This report of slave camps in rebel-controlled areas of Ukraine is a few years old but it gives a flavour of such places and makes chilling reading.
