Worth studying Putin’s in particular body language in the above briefing from Shoigu.
In particular his hands rarely leave the table and his leg shakes.
Wishful thinking on our part?

I worry that Putin being sick is worse than Putin being well. Sick people can be either bitter and twisted with hatred and resentment, or wise and aware of the briefness of human life and what really matters. Either way, it's his successors who will take over and god knows what they might do.

As far as Putin is concerned, if it were those options I know which I’d put my money on. Seeing plenty of evidence of the former and pretty much zero of the latter

Probably showing my general ignorance, but I had no idea who Shoigu was so had to Google him.
It would be a tense meeting for both men.
The war is not going as expected for both men.

I hear a lot about Putin’s health, but is anything confirmed? I hear he has multiple cancers, and is mentally ill, but I tend to call all that propaganda.

It may simply speak if his frustration and impatience. I’d say that was “tapping if his foot” rather than “shaking a leg” on closer inspection. But you know Russian and Western audiences will be looking so in that context his inability or reluctance to appear like a man who’s about to declare a “victory” is odd.
Rumours of his ill health may stem from the fact that his call on medical specialists (which I think is more than “rumour” stems from hypochondria.
Who knows.
The multi-lingual Shoigu is supposed to have a serious heart condition probably not helped by his alcohol and drug addiction …

One reason may be this:
A vkontakte post by the Readovka pro-Kremlin news outlet stated that in a closed military briefing Russian losses in Ukraine were given as 13,414 with a further 7000 missing. This is very close to the official current Ukrainian estimate of 21,200 dead.
The post was later deleted (same old story)

There have also been fires at two major Russian military buildings. With multiple casualties. No suggestion of sabotage.

Ive just been looking at old footage of Hitler in his final days meeting young Hitler Youth cannon fodder.(Leering like a decrepit old paedophile)his left hand behind his back is shaking and trembling.Edited out by the Nazi propaganda machine,but definitely a sympton of Parkinsons(for which there is no cure).Hopefully in Putins case.

For the avoidance of doubt, I hope Putin dies in agony somewhere, looking pudgy faced yet strangely shrivelled, perhaps clinging on to a table hopefully quite soon.
