Surely if he is as bad as they say then they want him leading the Tories at the next GE. Is a short term bauble and few days gloating worth a better chance at the next GE? It's one of the reasons Labour rarely win, not pragmatic enough, not ruthless enough. They should be doing all they can to keep Boris in but no! They just want the sweetie now!

Because they’re stupid.
He is bad for the country.

Gromit, so Labour are doing it for the good of the nation! How sweet!
So who do you think would be better GRomit?

Sir Kier and Raynor?

Ymb,
This is about removing Johnson as leader of the Conservative Party. We will still have a Conservative PM for the next two years.
If the Conservatives have a reboot, then neither Starmer or Raynor might not be chosen by the voters.
Question Author
But gromit surely you take the point that if you think Boris is bad then you'd want him to stay, if you were Labour hoping to win the election? Are you saying that Labour are sacrificing their chance out of altruism?
It would be pretty insane for Labour actually to hold off on Johnson because they think he'd be an electoral liability.
Who knows?
They surely know that actually in any case he is probably not going anywhere. He'll never resign and I cannot see the party unseating him.
Question Author
ich, that makes more sense, they know he's going nowhere so they may as well sling as much mud as they can.
... and the more Labour calls for his resignation the less chance there is I would have thought of the Tories doing their bidding.
If there is a meltdown in the polls then perhaps.
I agree that the Conservatives have a better chance of winning a General Election in 2024 with a new (better) leader, than sticking with this duffer.
I don’t want the country to be miss-managed for the next two years just to get Starmer elected (I am not a fan).
Question Author
ich, can I ask what is your new avatar?
The Tory MPs will obviously not do Labours bidding. Whatever they do will be about getting themselves re-elected in 2 years time.
Simple choice, will changing leader make them more or less appealing to the voters?
Because Boris is taking the Pish . And his supporters are so radicalised ,they can not see through him.
If Boris said jump ,they would answer ,How high!
As Naomi says.... "Because they are Stupid"....

Because he’s toxic for the country but also his own party.
He will shortly become a total pariah is my guess.
The Tories need to start priming their next party leader right now.
The whole campaign has been a gas lighting excersise conducted by out "national broadcaster", who are terrified of Boris doing what he has threatened, ... i.e. make them fund themselves. They are all dyed in the wool remainiacs to boot and vowed to harass him until they got him out of office after he started to deliver the Brexit voted for by the electorate. The "story" has been constructed and administered at broadcasting house and the sheeple are bleating along in chorus. If they get away with this we may as well scrap the Parliamentary procedures and let the telly and radio decide who is running our lives.
^^ Quite! but it isn't only the Beeb; why did SKY chose to send the odious Beth Rigby - who hates Boris - all the way to India in a sad attempt to humiliate him publicly in a foreign country, - which she couldn't manage to do.
Agree with what you say Togo but for many, like me a dyed in the wool Conservative, the 'partygate' is not the issue.

Johnson is a green liberal leading Blue labour. There seems to be not a single Conservative policy being implemented apart from Prit. But even there Johnson could stop all the nonsense by ditching the HRA implementing something suitable for the UK. But he wont.

He needs to go now.

It is no wonder you are Boris fanboy, you have the same problem with telling the truth.

The architect of Partygate was Dominic Cummings. Over several months he leaked details of lockdown parties at No.10. He leaked not to the BBC or Guardian because Cummings dislikes them, he leaked to Conservative newspapers. From last summer to Christmas a drip drip feed of photos and emails came from Cummings until Boris was forced to accept an independent inquiry in January this year.
Cummings is the cause of Boris’ problems not the BBC.
