Yes it does mean that. They should have been taken immediately to a waiting plane bound for Africa - and unless that's actually done the government's plan is pointless.

Denmark and Israel have already sent illegal undesirables there.
The UK government has to quickly send some to join them, then the word has to get around in France before it will act as a real deterrent.

Patel’s scheme is not working, and those you proclaimed it a great success just a few days ago were the fanboys of failure. It was bad weather preventing crossings, not the Government’s policy. A 254 is a shocking number, that is nearly the figure for the whole of 2018.

That means none of them reached our coast and were not able disappear into the night to work illegally. They were intercepted and taken into custody.

The figures so far this year are looking a lot worse than last year when over 28,000 came.

It is about time Patel resigned in shame. A half decent leader would have sacked her months ago.

Genuine question - if Rwanda is willing to take them, and presumably it is considered a 'safe haven' why are these people not making their way there voluntarily to make a new life instead of paying £££s and risking their lives crossing the channel?

Very sad that you believe the clap trap.

It is a pre-election gimmick and will be forgotten Friday morning. The £120 million that the Government have allocated would mean only about 50 refugees would go to Rwanda. So one fifth of those arriving yesterday would go, leaving 200 still here when the money ran out.

I don't think it's sad, gromit. I think it's a good solution. Think of all that money we're paying to France for failing miserably to do their bit. Better paid to Rwanda for doing a proper job.

the 5C make me laugh, they knock any attempt to address the issue yet offer no solutions themselves. It's almost as if they want them here. We should introduce a 5C exchange scheme, 1 5Cer out 1 immigrant in. At least the immigrants want to be here.
