I've just heard on the radio that even before this case starts it has cost over a million pounds.
What a complete waste of money considering how many people are struggling to pay energy bills and cost of living etc, surely a few phone calls or meet ups could've sorted this petty argument out!

That would be over a million each, SP. It was also said on the radio, that the expected payout (if there is one) would only be around £40K, so both Rooney and Vardy would be vastly out of pocket. Ridiculous!
From the link; "The 'winner' would receive about 70% of the court costs, leaving them with £300,000 to pay." !!
Yes - but think of the other side
1. It sells newspapers and keeps journalists in their jobs
2. It keeps courts working, pays court staff, judges, barristers, all their research staff, court cleaners, you name it
3. Idiocy keeps the country running!

The Egos Have Landed?
"Celebs" love throwing their wealth about in stupid places. It gives them the exposure they crave.
Money is clearly no issue here, but the reputations of two people who have large media profiles, too much time on their hands, and an unjustified sense of self-importance.

//What a complete waste of money considering how many people are struggling to pay energy bills and cost of living etc//

Thing is , it's not money that would otherwise go to help the populus with their energy bills and cost of living .

So whatever costs they incur is neither here nor there , given it's their money , they are spending
"What a complete waste of money considering how many people are struggling to pay energy bills and cost of living etc"

Unconnected.

If Rooney and Vardy HAD sorted this out privately it would have made no difference to anyone struggling with the cost of living crisis.
This energy crisis seems to be the new Biafran famine.

Try to keep the actions of a couple of schemies separated from real life.
I guess to them its not a waste, and if you have enough then whats the problem?

Think of all the money moving down the chain, briefs firm paying secretaries, lavvy cleaners, them going out and buying things from shops etc etc.

I agree with ymb [mops brow]. It's their money, they can do as they please with it, and it doesn't just vanish, it circulates
It's madness that it's gone this far but I think Mrs Rooney will win because her investigation method was fool proof.
lawyers rubbing their hands...
They have been at it for weeks
apparently les gurlz dont know and or cant agree on what a leak is....

first day in court
one party ( but which) has admitted that she contacted the press ( but didnt leak) I think that was the meaning of her words
They are all awful people.
It’s not the money, it’s the principle. The principle being that they are spoiled, enabled, and stupid.
put it into perspective that warhol marlyn monroe painting went for (£158.17m) gulp..
"I think Mrs Rooney will win because her investigation method was fool proof."

"Mrs Vardy strenuously denied being the leak, immediately calling Mrs Rooney on the phone to protest her innocence and within half an hour posting her defence on social media saying a number of people had access to her accounts."

If that is true, unless she has vicarious responsibility for the actions of those with the access, is she responsible for the leaks?
And the seller gave the money to charity ...
